j0434465[1]This is the final newsletter for this school year.  The teachers and I have enjoyed working with your children. As your focus turns to the days of summer ahead, please remember that the learning process must continue. Find ways to help your children remember the things they have learned this year. Balance the activities they will be involved in over the next two months so that it includes some reading. I make the following recommendations that will help you help your child continue learning over the summer:

Summer Bridge Activities for Grades 1-2

·         Contains Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Language

·          Reviews and Previews classrooms skills to prepare first grade students for the next grade

Summer Bridge Activities for Grades 2-3

·         Contains Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Language

·         Reviews and Previews classrooms skills to prepare second grade students for the next grade

Summer Bridge Activities for Grades 3-4

·         Contains Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Language

·         Reviews and Previews classrooms skills to prepare third grade students for the next grade

Summer Bridge Activities for Grades 4-5

·         Contains Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Language

·         Reviews and Previews classrooms skills to prepare fourth grade students for the next grade

For the convenience of the parents and/or the tutor who will be working with your children, the answer key for all exercises is included in the back of the book. These books are available at the Paper Shack and Paula’s. Please remember to get them to read as much as possible. This will help them when  it is time to return to school in August.

T.I.P. [The Informed Parent]: LEARNING NEVER ENDS

This school year may be ending, and thoughts of summer vacations may be on everybody’s mind. However, we can never allow learning to go on vacation because it is a process that must continue for many reasons. Here are a few more activities for the summer:

·         Cook dinner with your child and show him or her the do's and don'ts of preparing food.

·         Make up a board game with your child.

·         Have your child tell you a favorite story.

·         Look up events on the day your child was born.

·         Take your child on a field trip.

·         Make finger puppets with your child. Cut the ends off the fingers of old gloves. Draw faces on the fingers with felt tip markers, and glue on yarn for hair.

·         Help your child find your town on a map.

·         Teach your child a new skill like setting the table.

·         Ask your child to watch for numbers in TV programs and commercials.

·         On trips, make a game of measuring distances and times.
